About refinery chemicals

Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) neutralises free fatty acids in chemical refining, forming soapstock that is separated from the oil. Citric acid is used in acid degumming to condition non-hydratable phosphatides and chelate trace metals before bleaching.

Both chemicals are also essential in soap and detergent manufacture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles and water treatment.

Yes. Caustic soda is a corrosive (UN 1823, Class 8) and is shipped with the correct DG declaration, labelling and packing.

Which citric acid grade is used for oil degumming?

Both anhydrous and monohydrate citric acid are used; refineries usually dissolve it as a 30–50% solution for acid degumming.

Which refinery chemicals do you supply?

Can I order several refinery chemicals in one shipment?
